As has been tradition for many a year, I have willfully kept track of the assortment of films and television series I’ve watched over the course of the year. While I will LINK TO THE FULL LIST, I certainly won’t copy and paste it all into here (not sure Excel workbooks work like that anyway). I will, however, share with you the best and the worst (plus some fun stats!).

I could barely even get through this one.
All in all, my total on the year was only 96, 59 of which were movies and a staggering 37 were separate seasons of television shows (historically, I count for my total an entire season of a TV show for one entry on my list, but only if it’s watched via streaming/DVD).
So, about television shows. As I stated, I watched 37 separate seasons of television shows, and I actually went back and calculated the run times for those seasons based on episode length and number of episodes. TURNS OUT, that after all is added up, I get about 22496 minutes, or 375 hours. If we consider movies on average to be about 2hrs, it’s the equivlelant of an extra 187 movies. This would’ve made my total more like 247.
On top of that, The West, Ken Burns Baseball, and The Civil War were all segmented PBS miniseries (which for the sake of my list I counted as 1 movie a piece). Baseball was 9 episodes with a total run time of 1109min (18.5hrs), The Civil War was 9 episodes with a total run time of 667min (11hrs), and The West was 9 episodes with a total run time of 711min (12hrs). Again, going off the 2hr rule, this combined would break down to 21 movies. This would make the grand total more like 283.
SO REALLY, even though my film total is only 59, and if I include each season of a television show as 1 movie the total becomes 96, it’s much more like 283, when one takes into account how much I actually watched this year.

A whopping 90% of the movies I watched this year I saw via Netflix streaming. Holy hell.
Yeesh.
Naturally the reason for the HEAVY television watching this year was the birth of Juliet. It’s exceedingly difficult to be at home with time to sit down and watch an entire movie. 22-45min TV shows are really perfect though, and everything makes sense. Still, I’m going to make an effort to watch more actual movies this upcoming year, and with The Dark Knight Rises, The Hobbit, Prometheus, Looper and more coming out this year, it shouldn’t be that difficult.
PS! I also beat three video games this year, which is a record for me (well, a record since I turned 20 at least): Portal 2, Catherine, and Uncharted 3. I think I gave all of them A’s, so, there’s no sense going into too much detail with all that.
