Some More Portraits

Unexpectedly, though not quite suddenly, Juliet had a couple portrait shots taken at her daycare. One of them turned out pretty rad and I feel obligated to share it with you all.

Here we see Juliet completing a sidequest to retrieve her ultimate weapon somewhere on Disc 3.

Month Seven

As promised, the official Month Seven photo. This, along with next month’s photo will be my ideas, the remaining four are up in the air. And, just for the record, this was a pretty major priority, even taking into account that we had to move and didn’t really have internet access for a bit there. Yay determination!

Month Seven: Handle With Care

Office Post

Good afternoon, all. If you’re anything like me then you got way too much sleep, drank way too much coffee, and are now writing a blog post from your cubicle in downtown Arlington Heights. The sun is shining where you are, too, which should put you in a good mood. Doesn’t it?

Maybe there's a bird, too.

So, yeah, it’s been a while since I wrote a blog but as always, my excuse this time echoes previous excuses I’ve thrown at you over the years. Tell ya what: why not this time, you get to pick what my excuse is and just run with it. I’m sure I’ll be fine with it however nefarious it turns out to be.

So what’s even been going on? Stuff, mostly. I’ll be making another big move this upcoming weekend so I might be without internet for a few days (see if you notice a sharp drop in my blog activity), and with that comes the tedious process of sorting out what stuff I’ve amassed in the past couple years that are now by all definitions defunct and disposable. These papers from somewhere? Garbage. This old tattered notebook? Trash. This shirt that’s not mine but mysteriously in my closet? Donated. Done and done, it just takes a while. I am looking forward to it, though, if for no reason other than I finally get a chance to paint a mural on my daughter’s new bedroom wall. Even though I’ve never painted anything in my life, I’m confident this hastily-planned work of art will come off without a hitch and soon the offers will be rolling in for me to paint all sorts of things onto other things. I’ll post a picture once its done just so you know when to start submitting all those offers.

Also, quick pitch for the upcoming Decemberists first live album being released a week from today, We All Raise Our Voices To The Air, which is streaming in a couple of different places at the moment. To preserve some aspect of surprise, I only sampled a portion of the tracks, and man, holy hell is it good. What I was hoping it’d do–which it actually does pretty flawlessly–is capture that genuine fun that you have when you go to one of their concerts. Even the most jaded of Decemberists critics often agree that at least their concerts are enjoyable, and fortunately this is conveyed on the album itself. Definitely check it out unless you like, hate stuff like this. I don’t want to pressure you into doing something you don’t want to do.

...or do I?

Also, I’ve taken the past few weeks to rewatch the entire series of LOST on blu-ray, and yeah, it’s still unparalleled-ly brilliant, but now that I’ve survived that I can get back to watching movies, which means that maybe, just maybe I’ll end up writing another review. You know, spice things up a bit.

Until then, look forward to this weekend’s post for Juliet’s Seven Month Photo. I know.

See you in another life
